Lucy works with us on Mondays and she’s such an asset to our team. She’s a qualified Pilates instructor and ex dancer so brings such a full understanding about the body to her work as an osteopath. She’s also such a warm person and makes you feel really cared for. We’re so happy to have her back after her maternity leave

If you have a scoliosis you’re in good company the fastest man on earth @usainbolt has one too. . A lot of our patients worry about symmetry in their body . One of my shoulders is higher than the other being something that we hear an awful lot... . Our bodies aren’t very good at being perfectly symmetrical - for starters being right or left handed instantly influences how we use the two sides of our bodies really differently. . The reason our bodies hurt or don’t perform well for us is often due to how well our bodies are functioning around and compensating for all of these natural imperfections . Usain Bolt has an S-shaped curve in his spine, sure, but the mobility he has maintained throughout the joints in his spine and the strength and control in the supportive muscles has meant that he’s totally adapted to his natural shape and it doesn’t hold him back in any way (clearly!) . Achieving symmetry won’t help you be pain free or even make you perform better necessarily! Embrace your body’s natural form and work to get everything moving well and feeling strong See more

Loads of people hop on the internet when they’re in pain to see if they can find out more about their problem. There’s some really useful stuff out there but please remember, Dr Google is not always qualified! . There is all sorts of bogus/ dated or just plain wrong information out there. BUT if you know where to look, you can find some great resources. . I had a patient in the clinic yesterday who I directed to the @nationalmigrainecentre as he was really struggling with how... regular his headaches had been lately. I also asked him to review his medications with his GP as it had been quite a while since he last paid them a visit. Through reading through the brilliant info at @national_migraine_centre he arrived at the realisation that he had been taking his migraine medication - sumatriptan - too often. The persistent headache he was now getting was a ‘rebound headache’ - a regular headache that is in reaction to medication overuse. . He’s now following his GP’s advice about how to reduce those tablets and safely get his headaches under control. . When it comes to reading about YOUR problem online, your best bet is to always look for official healthcare sites or charities focussed on your particular issue. These sites are less likely to offer you the so called ‘quick fixes’ you can find elsewhere, but they will offer you sound, evidence-based and unbiased tips which are going to really make the difference in how you recover. . Great sites: @nhswebsite @national_migraine_centre @versusarthritis @mayoclinic @hmsacharity (Hypermobility) @nass_exercise (Anky Spon) See more

More time on our hands while we aren’t in the clinic more time for learning at home. Osteopaths have to do at least 30 hours of official professional development and education each year. I feel like we might smash through that in the next few weeks! There are so many acts of generosity at the moment... lots of courses of all kinds running for free including the @sandiegopainsummit which I’ll be enjoying today. Thank you If you need to extract yourself from everything that’s going on I strongly recommend tapping in to all the great stuff people are putting online.

We remain closed for face-to-face consultations right now. We're busy getting things ready behind the scenes to make sure that when we get back to treating you we will be doing so in the most safe and practical way. . We hope to be back in practice in a matter of weeks, and rest assured we will be in touch to let you know when we're taking bookings again .... In the meantime, we’re still here for you... remotely! . Please remember we're very much still here for you at the other end of the phone or email. We're offering telephone consultations which are really quite helpful - we can triage your problem and prescribe you exercises using our software system @rehabmypatient. We can also give you our best advice about how to get better and stay comfortable while working from home, wrangling with children or trying to do PE with Joe....! See more

To all of our lovely patients, In light of the current situation regarding COVID-19 and in response to public health guidelines, we have made the decision to cease face-to-face consultations at the clinic until further notice. We have been dedicated to extra measures in recent weeks to ensure that our hygiene is meeting extremely high standards. Unfortunately the situation nationally is of course now more serious and we want to be certain that we are doing the absolute best... by our community, in particular those who are vulnerable and our precious NHS. Until we re-open we will be offering telephone consultations to support anyone who is in the middle of a course of treatment or whoever may start feeling the effects of this change in routine and added stress. This will include triage of any new aches and pains you're experiencing, advice on self-help strategies and recommending exercises that may help. Please do call us - we would love to hear from you and we're committed to helping you through this time. We will be setting up telephone consultations on our online booking system shortly. We'll keep in touch and resume our consultations as soon as we can. Keep well everyone and we will see you on the other side! Hollie, Gina and Sarah
