Do you need a chiropractic assessment? When evaluating a condition a chiropractor will take a thorough history of when your problem started. Then pain drawing is used to show where and what kind of pain you have such as numbness, tingling, weakness, and sharpness. Follow up questions are asked such as, what makes the pain worse and what helps bring relief? A pain scale can be utilized to rate it on a scale of 10. Your range of motion and posture will be assessed and x-rays can be utilized to help determine the state of your spine. These tools help doctors of chiropractic accurately assess your condition and decide what type of treatment plan should be set up for you. Stop in if you think you need a chiropractic evaluation!

The American College of Physicians (ACP) recommends using non-invasive, non-drug treatments for low back pain, directly citing Chiropractic treatment. "The Chiropractic profession has long advocated for doctors and patients to use a more conservative approach to treating low back pain. These new guidelines by the ACP support a growing body of research as well as increasing recognition in the healthcare community regarding the value and effectiveness of non-drug approaches, su...ch as spinal manipulation, for acute and chronic low back pain." ACP's guidelines, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine state that patients should move on to medicines such as ibuprofen or muscle relaxants ONLY if alternative treatment is ineffective, and prescription opioids should be a last resort as their risk of addiction and overdose out weighs their benefits.
